We Are His Inheritance

The Bible speaks of the incorruptible inheritance we have reserved in heaven (1 Peter 1:4). What an amazing, wonderful truth that is.

But, you know what, I like the fact that eternity is way bigger than what I ‘get’ in glory. In Psalm 94:14, we read that “the Lord will not cast off His people, nor will He forsake His inheritance.” Did you pick that up? HIS inheritance!

It is less about God being ‘my’ God, and much more about me being God’s precious child.

Can you see the difference? How comforting should that make you feel when you know that the God of the Universe views you as HIS inheritance?

The God who created the worlds, who placed billions of stars in orbit, who owns the cattle on a thousand hills – well, he sees puny old you and me – as HIS inheritance. Yes, we are wretched sinners who keep on sinning – but he loves us even so.

Think about it.

Despite our best efforts to reject Him, or under-value Him, He will not cast us off, nor forsake us…..because we are HIS inheritance.

God the Father has loved us with an everlasting love, and we were redeemed with the blood of Christ Jesus. And the Holy Spirit seals us, sustains us and intercedes on our behalf. God has done everything possible, and everything required, to ensure HIS inheritance will be coming home.

Nothing here on planet earth, or in the heavenly realms, will

“be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom 8:39).

Why? Because the Sovereign and Supreme God has decreed we are HIS inheritance.

As stated earlier, it is less about Him being ‘my’ God, and much more about me being God’s dear child – God’s inheritance. And I like it that way.
